Keep Mold Out of Your Home During Springtime
Apr 19, 2022

April showers bring May Flowers... and Mold.

While warm, windy, and dry days carry tree and grass pollen, rainy days washes these allergens away. However, spring rain can promote mold growth inside and outside your home. The mold count tends to increase after a heavy rain followed by a sunny day with high temperatures.

Here are a few tips to keep mold out of your home:

Dehumidifiers

Keep humidity in your home below 60%; Dehumidifiers and air conditioners might help.

Monitor Your Levels

Buy a humidity meter in a hardware store to keep watch on humidity levels.

Wipe Kitchen and Bathroom Surfaces Dry

Clean kitchen and bathroom surfaces of soap scum and grease. An exhaust fan or open window in the bathroom will help lower humidity levels.

Use Bleach

If you spot mold in your house such as in plastic, tile, or glass, clean it with a bleach solution. If mold is in your drywall, call for professional advice. It's important to find the source and keep it from happening again even after cleaning.
