Take Control of your Allergies!

Learn About Allergy Shots and “SLIT” – The Basics of Immunotherapy

Allergen immunotherapy is a treatment used to reduce allergy symptoms throughout the year. The therapy consists of exposing the body to a small amount of the allergen it reacts to, preventing the immune system from overreacting to it whenever there’s an exposure.

HOW?

It can be done through shots, which are subcutaneous injections that are administered once a month after a buildup period, and “SLIT” which are self-dissolving tablets or drops taken daily under the tongue.

WHY?

This therapy can help people with allergy symptoms and asthma triggered by allergies, and people who have had anaphylaxis due to stings by honeybees, yellow jackets, hornets, wasps, and fire ants. It is not used to treat allergies to food, latex, or medications.
